As an adopted kid who managed to grow up just fine, I find this statement (and the statement above about how adoption isn't any better than a parent keeping their child) horribly offensive.

I can understand where you're coming from, because I'm adopted too, and I imagine people have probably said to you some of the same things they've said to me. I hated it when people would start pitying me once they found out I was adopted. I'm not biologically related to my parents, but they're damn well still my parents. We damn well still love each other.

All of that said, no one here has said "no adopted kids ever turn out fine." They're speaking of the majority, and the sad reality is the majority face a lot of problems. You and I were lucky enough to wind up in good situations. But the fact that we came out fine doesn't change the fact that so many don't.
