Re: To no one's surprise, Captain America
Yea, the cube was rather fast. I can see why that might not be the most appealing option. What did you think about Bucky's memories in the film, btw? Did you think he remembered anything about Steve at the end of the film (Maybe that “End of the line” memory?) or do you think he was just so shocked that someone cared about him that much that it caught him off guard? I've seen all kinds of different answers and I still don't know what I believe, but I like to hear other people's interpretations.
Yea, I felt like the comic was a bit more over the place with the story. It wasn't as clear cut or interesting. I did like bits of it, but the film did a great job of making everything come together in a satisfying way.
(What was Cap's secret, btw? It's been about nine months since I read the comics and I've read a shitload of fanfic since then... I don't remember a secret. I don't think...)
Re: To no one's surprise, Captain America
My headcanon at the end of the movie is that part of it is him being shocked off guard, and he's got... bits of memories and stuff coming up. We saw earlier in the movie that he did remember Cap, so I think that he's got flashes coming and going, but nothing very concrete.
The comic has some very good moments, but yeah, it's very... branching out. My one gripe with the film is that I wish there had been a bit more screentime devoted to Steve and Bucky, because I thought that movie could have had just a wee bit more Captain America and the Winter Soldier in it, you know?
I just hope Civil War doesn't happen because I did not like Tony there one bit.
I was more referring to the fact that early on in the run Steve dies and was killed by Sharon, which I was very much not expecting. Also the part with the second Captain America was pretty painful, when he showed up.
Re: To no one's surprise, Captain America
Bucky remembering some bits and pieces but not having a firm grasp on everything probably makes the most sense. I like the idea of him remembering his life slowly, and having time to process it.
I certainly wouldn't have objected to more Steve and Bucky! What with the film named after Winter Soldier there was surprisingly little of him. What moments he had were amazing and very poignant, but I would have liked them to have more scenes together too. Maybe on the DVD...
Right, hahaha... Ugh, I don't want to think about Civil War. IMO that storyline wouldn't work in the film's at all and if Marvel decides to recreate it they'll be making a big mistake. How many films would they even have to dedicate to it? DNW.
