we've had great music threads here, and i discovered many nice tunes thanks to you guys, but to be honest what i'm really curious about is your favorite band. that's one of the things i wonder about people.

as for me, my favorite band is unkle, and my favorite solo artist is david bowie.

oh, and if you feel comfortable answering that question... what about your teenage self's favorite band? personally i still have all the linkin park albums up to minutes to midnight.

Music is hard for me to choose. For group, I guess Within Temptation. For solo, I am torn between Heather Dale and Vienna Teng.
Though I think Heather Dale has a band?

I love Queen. Enjoy pretty much any song Chris Cornell sings. LOVE Shinedown and Florence and the Machine.

OMG, teenaged me adored Linkin Park. I thought I was so badass and hard-rock, haha. I also really liked the Spice Girls. And I still do, so.

Metallica, Pink Floyd, Mumford and Sons, Queen, The Doors, Muse, Florence and the Machine, Adele.

Most of the older bands on that list were the ones I liked as a kid/teen. I grew up listening to them thanks to my dad.

My tastes change so often, but Ulver has been the one constant band I keep listening to over the last 15 years.

Favorite band would currently be Tritonal! Favorite solo artist... I dunno, maybe Hans Zimmer? I have a really hard time picking favorites XD

Oh, I forgot to add, my teenage self's favorite band would definitely be Switchfoot!

My favorite band is the Replacements. They're so good. My favorite solo artist / actually active musical group producing new movement is probably Laura Marling.

haha, my teenage self was really into The Beatles. I was in a xanga ring of fellow teenage Beatles fans and we would blog about our love for the band and share cute pictures of them and comment on each others' blog posts and pictures.

Teenaged me ... Bowie, though I didn't listen to much after Lodger.

I still like early Roxy Music, and for sheer fun lately I listen to a lot of Banco de Gaia.

Solo ... this would be a tie between Brian Eno (who has been one of my favs for, er, close to 40 years) and Ani di Franco (she was the first musician in a long time whose voice and music didn't make me have a "been there, heard that, bored now" reaction.)

I have such a hard time picking just one... My all time favorite song is a Tracy Chapman song, so in theory I'd go with her, but I'm not sure my immense love for one song outweighs my slightly less intense love for a number of songs from other artists.

(Right now, not going to lie, I'm loving some old school John Mayer. /don't care.)

I think liking Linkin Park was a rite of passage for those of us of a certain age. I may or may not still listen to them.

My favorite band in HS was Good Charlotte. The music was okay, I guess, but the one guy's hair ticked off my daddy and their concert tickets were like, $15 a pop so their fans could afford them.

My current favorite band is Amon Amarth.

Dunno if I have a favorite solo artist.

My favorite band is Alice in Chains. I don't really have a fave solo, but based on what I keep listening, maybe a toss-up between Dylan and Elvis.

My teenage self would agree with my much older self about the band, but hadn't listened to much by those two artists. My pre-teen self, now that one didn't really have a fave, just listened to whatever was on the radio.

Yeah, I am one of those weird birds that still loves all the music she listened to as a kid. But then I never had a hot at the moment popstar love phase. I was listening and loving the likes of The Clash, The Rolling Stones and Joy Division since I was a child.

Only I've added more bands that remind me of those bands like for Joy Division, there's The Horrors.

And solo artist: probably Santogold. I don't really listen to many solo artists.

Band (non-JPop): The New Pornographers (which is my teenage self's favorite too)
Band: (JPop): Team Syachihoko

Solo Artist: Matsuura Aya.

My favorite band is Thrice. Favorite solo artist? Not sure, since I mostly listen to groups.

Teenage me? All the terrible late 90s/early 00s pop/skate-punk. All of it. And X Japan.

My very favorite band is Queens of the Stone Age, as long as we can pretend their newest album didn't actually happen.

Hmm, solo artist. I'm not sure I have a favorite.

My teenaged self was a massive U2 fan.

My fave band now is Duran Duran...which was also my fave band as a teen...it's been about 30 years for me. yes, i am old.

Fave solo? Male: Chris Isaak or Dean Martin, female: Imogen Heap or Sade.

Those are all my go to faves, but I listen to a lot of other music, too.

Linkin Park is my favourite band, and I am awaiting their new album.

I did count Lady Gaga pretty-much even to them, but I still haven't got around to buying the Artpop album.

I also like Pink.

In the area of dead artists: Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.

The Echoing Green.

No matter where I go, what I do, how my tastes change, what I get into and fall out of, somehow I still and always will have half my playlist comprised of The Echoing Green.

I actually don't have a single favorite (band or solo artist). I could narrow it down to maaaybe half a dozen top favorites, but I'd have to give too much thought into a single favorite.

As a teenager my favorite band was actually Chicago.

Linkin Park is still something of a guilty pleasure, though I haven't really kept up with their music.

Queen, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, AC/DC, Incubus, Breaking Benjamin, and Within Temptation are some of my favourites. I like lots of shit and I've never had one true favourite band(the only ones that would come close would be Queen and Breaking Benjamin I guess).

London Symphony Orchestra and John Williams.

Back in the stone age, I listened to the OST for Star Wars for five solid years. It was the ONLY 8-track (I told you—back in the stone age) I had in the player. When CDs came out, it was the ONLY CD in my car until Lord of the Rings. Now I listen to a wider variety of music, but in the end, I still come back to LSO (playing nearly anything) and John Williams.

Teenage self: ... Hootie and the Blowfish. Don't judge.

Teenage me was totally into Nirvana and Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog and Radiohead.

As far as my desert island artist goes, if I could only listen to two singers ever again, I'd pick Ryan Adams and Tori Amos.
