Yeah, my dad side of family's Canadian, and while I hear their accent very distinctly (and some of them come close to the fake Canadian accent), it's still more subtle than the jokes.

It's more specific word pronunciations. Using "Zed" instead of "zee", and my dad and his family all say "pasta" and "drama" with a short a, like in cat.

Now, my other side of the family are all Brooklyn Jews, so my grandfather, especially, actually has an accent really damned close to the "old Jewish man" stereotype.

It gets really funny when my mom's around both sides of the family, and ends up with this Canadian-Brooklyn hybrid that I cannot for the life of me imitate.
