That's... that's not how humans work. Humans can and do anthropomorphize and empathize with anything from animals to toys to computers to volleyballs, let alone something that actually looks and sounds a lot like a a human being.

And considering that I frequently feel like shit for killing flies, yeah, I'd probably be kind of moved if it begged for its life.
