Yeah I really prefer 2D animation too, but CG anime been doing well so we'll probably be seeing more as time goes on.

The day there's more CG anime than 2D anime coming out each season is the day I die a little bit more inside. That goes for western cartoons on tv as well. Movies are a lost cause.

Animation art collector here-- that's been the standard for over a decade in both Eastern and Western animation. They stopped using actual cels a long time ago.

Actually, the backgrounds in LWA and KLK are hand-painted.

It's not the same. 2D is digitally colored, but it's still 2D hand drawn animation. CG on the other hand is 3D models on a computer.

ugh, yeah. The story sounded interesting but I could not stand the animation at all.

(though, to be cynical - do you actually live in a place where your support or lack thereof will actually impact the ratings/sales, or are you just torrenting...?)

It doesn't really matter where you live as long you as you actually buy the super expensive Japanese blue-rays and official merchandise though.

Companies also get a bit off the official streaming sites evidently, but it's not known how much.

Ditto. The premise sounded interesting enough and I've heard good things, but I think the CG looks horrid. I didn't care for the CG used in the Berserk movies either, I just find the weird hybrid anime/3-D style looks way too awkward and ugly.

There's a lot of anime that you can hardly tell it's CG. Sadly for you OP, CG is pretty much the standard nowadays.

This is not true. Most anime use CG from time to time, but (thanks god) they aren't full CG like Sidonia is.
