Taylor Swift has already been mentioned. Miley Cyrus. Probably a lot of pop songs in general. Also, Dexy's Midnight Runners if you want some intensely sincere 80s pop.

actually there is one band I like that I do think is embarrassing and that's Oingo Boingo. they're just so ridiculous

e: also Pony and Barbie Girl are two songs that I think are probably just good songs even if I don't listen to them that much and they have lyrics that are kind of out there.

I'm inclined to defend "Because I Got High". People interpret it as meaning "The situations described don't result from being high, so it's silly to be anti-drug." I think it means "The situations described result from laziness and poor judgment, so don't blame drugs for your being a loser."

I agree with you. I always thought the song was saying "I got high instead of doing these things, and that's why my life sucks".
