I sleep like a log for 9 hours optimally. I have a bad habit of turning off my alarm clock without waking up.

ugh, I have done that. Waking up is such a chore.

And I feel like 9 hours is pretty optimal for my body too, which is frustrating because I've always heard that you're supposed to get 7-8, and I've heard that more is bad for you, and it feels like such a waste of time and like people would think I'm lazy and...yeah. also it usually means going to bed REALLY fucking early, like, way before my body's clock says it's time to go to sleep, and that's just a no-go.

So oftentimes you don't get enough sleep then! It's frustrating to me too because there are so many things to do on evenings.
I heard that the best sleep duration should be divisible by three so that it includes quick sleep periods, idk how true it is.

Divisible by three? Three what?

Like 6, 9 or 12 hours.

Oh. I've heard it's supposed to be divisible by 1.5 hours, since 90 minutes is the average length of the sleep cycle.

That could be right too.

So glad someone else needs 9 hours too! Like, if I have 7 hours of sleep a night for a week I will feel exhausted on the weekend and need to recharge bacause I've missed out on 10 hours of sleep. I also find it incredibly hard to get up before 7 on a regular basis, even if I go to bed early.

Yes, one night of not enough sleep is survivable, a few nights in a row turn me into a very tired goo. I've never woke up this early even for school, so my symphathies.

I'm with you! I'm sleep disorder anon from above, and I am awful about turning off my alarm clock without actually getting up. And it's so frustrating when people think it's laziness or whatever else-- some people just need more sleep. Also, as an FYI re: the divisible by 3 thing, it's usually that it's optimal to wake up between REM cycles, which in healthy adults are usually between 2-3 hours (getting longer the longer you're asleep). There are some apps that are supposed to help you figure out when it's optimal to wake up-- one of those might help!

Wow, these apps sound awesome! It might be really helpful for those who have trouble establishing their sleeping routine. Everybody needs different amounts of sleep, definitely. Especially after a stressful day.
