This really makes me want to read a bunch of re-writes of famous pieces of literature in which everything is the same, except for the fact that all of the people are genies.

Actually, that's how they all started out. Then some punk gets a lamp, wishes for something good to read, and you end up having to tailor to your audience.

So, are all writers secretly genies, or do all writers secretly have genies?

It's genies all the way down.

Me too. Me too. Granted, the stories would be much shorter because phenomenal cosmic power but, hey, it would be interesting.
