I agree that the two situations are different, but I think they can come from the same impulse, that is, seeing online discussions like a real life conversation where saying "Oh, I don't know" and "I agree" actually means something instead of nothing. On the internet there's no expectation of a minimum level of participation, because uhhhhh the question isn't AIMED at a person with NO INFORMATION obviously. You don't HAVE to tell me it doesn't apply to you, it's for people whom it does, you pain in the ass.

(I really hate this thing.)

Though I agree with you that people who can only fathom characters of one sex probably have some issues to conquer, one way or another.

I've been well. It's nice seeing your posts all around, you cheer me up. Did me and you ever talk for long? :0 I hope so.

Ah, so you think it's misaimed real world courtesy inappropriately transferring to the internet. Makes sense. I buy it.

(Specify? Hate the non-participation participation thing?)

Hopefully it's something they can conquer with a sword and a dragon, possibly a horse. All the other kinds of conquering are more meaningful and less fun.

Did me and you ever talk for long?

... >_> Um... Stream? Maybe? I- shit. I read your posts a lot so I might just be imagining it. Because I like them. Crap, I just outed myself as a forgetful semi-creepy person.

But yay I cheer you up! Less creepy! That makes me happy to know.

I hate the "I have nothing to add and just thought you ought to know" posts. And "+1"/"I agree" and nothing else posts but I actually want to go to bed soon so I'll put that crap on hold.

Sidetrack: Earlier in my internet years I saw a forum post started by someone to address their difficulties writing the opposite sex, but then many people responding saying having trouble with writing the same sex. It left a impression on me somehow, because I had never really had this problem, and because it was just interesting to see how different people approached connecting to characters. The impression I walked away with is that some people enjoy or need some level of detachment, that for reasons big and small characters of the same sex don't afford them? Anyway, I've been mulling it over ever since.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, my birthday IS this week so can I so self-indulgently ask you which of my awful angry rants caught your fancy? :3c

Hmm, I don't mind "+1/agree", "disagree", or even "what the fuck is this?" I mostly just have an issue with, "I have nothing to add but here I am." In fact, they could even say that and add, "But hey, look, flowers" and I would still be okay with it because they're actually adding something. (In this case, flowers.) It's just when they have nothing to add and then say they have nothing to add it's like, why? WHY? WHY DID YOU DO THIS THING? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

People have trouble writing the same sex? But... I don't understand. I... *sits down and contemplates her life*

Ooooooooooo~! Happy not-birthday but soon-birthday! As for my favorite, mmm, less I have a favorite I remember and mostly just giggling or smiling and then going, "Ah yes, Scrubber." And say that in the voice of Councilor Sparatus. Not because I don't believe you, but because it makes me giggle more.
