I haven't watched Buffy because I am shameful, but I say like what you like and forget the lists. Everyone goes into watching a show for different reasons and likes different things in particular about it. You shouldn't worry just because what you like isn't the most popular. (And good plot and action sound both like great reasons to like an episode.)

I always really liked this episode too! I know that if you're comparing finales and finale-villains, it's technically a letdown after Graduation Day and Becoming, but non-comparatively, I thought it was an excellent episode. The spell was beautiful.

I always love that bit when Buffy stand up from behind that console doing the Sumerian thing, and Adam is just ..."Uh, what the hell? Doves?"

(trying not to be spoilery for the person who's only on season 2. :p)

Love what you love! Lots of people have their idiosyncratic favorites; it sounds like you have good reasons for liking this episode.

P.S. I just started watching Buffy (literally just finished watching Part 2 of the very first two-part episode) and I'm really excited for it!

It's a very good episode! I love the action and the spell was really cool. My favorite part was seeing the initiative get destroyed because it was the first set they destroyed that I didn't like.

Don't be ashamed of what you like, OP. My favorite season of Buffy is Season 6 and I've never heard anyone in the fandom who had anything nice to say about it. My own brother judges me.

I like all the Buffy seasons, tbh. (My only crit was that I wanted a more spectacular Cretan snake goddess temple at the end, but I guess they blew most of the SFX budget on the eps leading up to that.

I like season 6! I even like Willow's magic addiction and Buffy's depression at being resurrected. I always hear people complain about those.

S6 was hard to watch sometimes - a lot of times - but it's one of my favorite seasons. Not everyone hates on it. It's just that it was so messy, it's hard to say nice things.

It was a really good episode despite the cheese-tastic effects and Adam being so lame.

Unfortunately, it had the misfortune to air right before Restless.

I feel like fandom (me included) constantly nudges it to the side in order to get a gander at its hotter friend.

I loved that ep. I loved that it was all of them behind her invoking the spell. The doves were a great bit, and the look on Adam's face was priceless. I loved the "source of our power" line.
