It's mostly dumb hardcore Bronies (you know, those Bronies) who think Rarity is a "bitch" and should be more like their obedient little waifu Fluttershy. I think most people aside from them either like Rarity or are neutral towards her. My little sister and the little girls I've babysat all love Rarity and think she's one of the best characters (she's my favorite too)

Those people are fools. Rarity is Best Pony because she's consciously not as "nice" as the others. That little extra bit of bite to her is what kept me watching until I started to warm up to everyone else. And I don't think I have ever related to a fictional character more than the scene where the Cakes are trying to get someone to babysit and everyone else gives these long explanations as to why they can't, but Rarity's response is just "No. Absolutely no."
