Re: Cultural appropriation?

My rule on cultural appropriation is as long it isn't taking something sacred (stuff like war bonnets), it's fine and is a natural part of cultures interacting.

Yeah, this. Seriously. Cultures mixing is not a bad thing. It's only frustrating if you take something sacred or important to another culture and use it disrespectfully, or in a way that (most?) people of that culture would frown on.

Seriously, I've heard of this apparent "Eating food from other cultures is appropriation" thing before, but never actually seen it seriously said. Is this a troll thing? I don't go to tumblr, maybe for the best.

I just ate Indian curry and Japanese mochi, by the way.

Pretty much. So long as it isn't a wedding Kimono, or an authentic Miko hakama and such, war bonnet, etc, you can wear the fucking clothing. Summer yukata isn't exactly anything special unless it's for certain ceremonies.

And food is fucking food. I'll eat sushi, tenpura and the like to my hearts content. Cause it's tasty.
