I think that terror is the appropriate feeling. for a few very good reasons:

That whole scene in the ShinRa building, where Cloud and Co wake up with their cell doors unlocked and everyone else dead. He was right there! He killed everyone, Cut the head of that Jenova creature (which is terrifying all of its own), Opened your cell doors and left a blood soaked building in his wake, without anyone in your party knowing. I mean he straight up murdered President ShinRa, who was the big bad of the game up until that point and the first you know about it is when you find ShinRa slumped dead at his desk, At the top of his very secure building (that the party has just failed to stealth into), In the middle of this bleak oppressive city that he was basically the god-emperor of. And we havn't even seen or heard him yet. Nothing but bone-chilling terror, man.

On the subject of chilling, how about that Chilling theme tune of his? Particularly in the flashback to the destruction of Nibelheim (Also, it's a flashback for fuck sake, how did they make a flashback scary?!?). "I'm going to see my mother" *MUSIC KICKS IN* *MY PANTS ARE SHITED* *EVERYTHING BURNS* fuck me.

Finally, he killed Aeris. That was in general a massive horror move. I mean for me, it was both the first time a videogame hit me in the feels, and the first truly irreversible (So many hours searching the interwebs looking for the secret to bringing her back. So many wasted days digging in fucking Bone Village looking for whatever the fictional Macguffin was alledged to bring her back.) main character death I'd experienced in any real way in all my fannish life up to that point (Gwen Stacy's death was well before my time, so when I read it, it didn't really hit me as hard as most other people, but Aeris... man that fucked me right up)

TLDR: Fear this man. It is only right.
