Personally I'm not one for OT3's so the threesome idea often doesn't work for me, and quiet honestly if I ship a character with a different character than the canon love interest then I don't really dig the canon romance enough to OT3 it.

But that's not to say I want the canon love interest gone, I still want them in fic just as a friend instead of a romance, and it depends on the fic as well as to how much the canon romance being ignored will bother me.
