... Hello, that is a sequel I am interested in. *chinhands* Is there a newsletter I can subscribe to?

(I never really believed he was straight-up human after that anyway.)

The Care Bears quietly shook the universe until a reasonably well-off home near to all three of them fell out, and oh look, isn't that nice, they were hoping to adopt a boy!

And the shadow knows something's missing. It can't quite think, but it can *tell* it's... alone. It is not down with this. Find that missing piece.

I can work with this plotbunny.

The point was that it had nothing to do with the 'care bears', which is why I listed a friend of the family, family member who lived close by, one of Christy's parents being a social worker. None of these things had care bears in them. Secondly, I never implied the shadow was sentient. It was a piece of his magic that eventually returned to its source. They were simply ideas I felt like sharing. I'm reminded of why I ducked out of fandoms so many years ago. I'll be taking my leave now.

WOW, I don't know what happened in this thread but it looks like you got really offended that katarik was enjoying a conversation with you about care bears? Or maybe not care bears?

What the hell?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
The thread was just about liking a pairing or something. Read Kat's last reply, he/she was pretty rude.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I...see nothing rude about that reply. I am so confused.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
This looks like a very strange misunderstanding.

I don't think this person was deliberately trying to piss you off. I think they just didn't get what you were going for.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
katarik, who were you talking to? This thread suddenly got very peculiar.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
Thread was about liking DarkHeart and Christy, anon posted an idea about a story, Kat made a condescending reply for some reason, anon felt insulted, deleted their side of the conversation and left, the end. Not that strange.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
...how was their reply condescending?

I don't get this at all.

I hadn't meant to be condescending. What I had meant to do was 'oh, hey, we both like this ship, let's talk about why!' Apparently involving the Care Bears in a potential sequel to a Care Bears storyline was a no-go. It might have looked like I was trying to steal the bunny with the last line? That's the only cause for offense I can see? But that wasn't my intended implication.

Nothing I can do about someone misreading my comment, being offended, and taking their toys and going home except to say in an open thread that that wasn't my intent and I'm sorry to have caused offense.

I'm reading it and it's coming off like you're insulting/talking down about something. "Oh hey look, the care bears just magical themselves up a middle class family who wants a son and is near all the kids. Oh, that's nice, they also for some reason want a boy! What a coincidence!" Plus the icon, comes off as snarky.

Huh. Okay, thanks for explaining how I was coming off as being insulting. I was applying Care Bears type logic -- I can totally see the Bears doing that -- and I still don't see how I was condescending, but I can see how it could be taken that way? I appreciate you taking the time to say so.

The icon is my default, referencing *another* deep, deep ship of mine (Adeline Kane/Slade Wilson, DC Comics). I forgot to use the Care Bears one because I was heading to bed. But in combination, yeah, I see what you mean. Sort of icing on the cake, as it were. Thanks.

Condescending in the sense that it read like your reply was entirely just about how the idea was stupid/negative, if that makes sense

Oh! Okay! Now I get it. ... Oops. Yeah, I can see how that got across. Thank you for clarifying!

(Anonymous) 2014-05-15 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe the other person was insulted but... it kind of makes them look worse, deleting all their comments like that instead of saying "Hey, did you mean to sound condescending just now?"
