Lets talk about Solange and Jay Z

and the reaction to the fight in th feminist blog sphere.

I've got to be entirely honest, this might be the nail in the coffin for my following of and participation in the major feminist blogs.

The fact that the conversation has turned into why she might have attacked Jay Z, making excuses for her, and using language talking about "altercation", or argument or a million other things which imply it was anything but one sided disgusts me.

If it was him attacking her, any one of these suggestions would have led to a literal explosion of outrage, whereas all this has led to is cries of "you must be an MRA, not the same, teh menz etc" when the sheer hypocrisy has been pointed out.

inb4 not all feminists

People ignoring things that don't fit their well groomed and narrow minded ideology? Colored me shocked.

No matter what was going on, if she wasn't defending herself, no one should have been throwing fists.

And that's about the extent of my concern for this, ontd has beat this into the ground.

Now I'm curious to know the "major feminist blogs".

Eh

I don't mind that conversation, but that's kind of because I do think there are things that justify a woman trying to hit a dude

because I'm kind of an atavist i guess. but i wouldn't try to defend that as feminist

I haven't even heard about this. I get the feeling it will get old very quickly though.

I don't think this is an exclusively feminist problem. Society as a whole doesn't take female on male violence seriously and unfortunately that carries over into feminist spaces along with a lot of other problems.

I completely stopped following major feminist anything at some point years ago and mostly only follow individual feminists. It was such a gradual process that I didn't fully realize it until you mentioned they even still exist. I don't remember what triggered it, but probably something like this.
