That was...his very first episode though? It was supposed to be wrong and creepy and the whole point of the episode was him *realizing that* and getting over it. I'm not really certain what you're talking about. You do understand this thing called character development, correct?

Also, uh, no shit TNG played it for laughs. It was the show that came up with the holodeck in the first place. Deconstructions of sci-fi tropes always take at least a few years to kick in -- back in the '80s, the whole concept was a lot newer and unexamined.

So much this. It was meant to be funny! And was considered family-friendly viewing, back in the day.

I suppose the SJWs would be shrilly calling for Berman & Piller's heads on pikes, these days, even as they squee themselves into blackout oblivion over their disgusting porn slashfic on the Internet.
