People who read/write/enjoy ABO and BDSM fic, I have a question!
(Anonymous) 2014-05-16 12:38 am (UTC)(link)I'd like to know, if you read/write/enjoy ABO and BDSM fic and art or AUs and fandom things and whatever - are you also in a relationship? Do you want to be in a relationship? And if you say yes to either of that, do you have or think you'd have any dynamics from ABO and BDSM fic in your actual one?
Like - to what extent is this just 'fantasy / fun' and 'something you would want'. I'm assuming no one actually wants the world to be TOTALLY RUN BY BDSM RULES, but do any bits of what you enjoy in fics which have those things make it back out to your real life interactions with other people?
TL;DR ARE YOU ALPHA OR OMEGA (or neither or whatever)

(Anonymous) 2014-05-16 12:56 am (UTC)(link)In reality - I've done BDSM play with people, yeah. It's nothing like the fic I'm mostly interested in reading. But I've seen plenty of fic that is like that and I know other people in my local kink scene who like reading those more realistic type fics too.

That said, I tend to tell people I'm submissive because explaining it in reality takes too much time and is usually TMI anyway...but no one ever believes me because I have such a domineering personality in real life. For those a little more familiar with BDSM, I apparently stick close to the stereotype of being the high-strung A-type personality in real life who uses BDSM as a release from daily HBIC life. :P
In a BDSM!AU, I'd probably be a Switch or a Domme, and in an ABO world, I'd be an Alpha - based on my day-to-day personality, anyway. I'd be that fic-stereotype of someone who struggles with my orientation/"gender" identity before finally realizing I just need to find a sub/omega/whatever who is able to play sadist so to speak, but otherwise still take directions from me. :P

In answer to your TL;DR, I'm probably either a beta who acts like an alpha in the bedroom, or a very understated alpha.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-16 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)I'm not in a relationship right now, though I have been in a D/s one before. When I'm ready to go "back in the field", as it were, I'm definitely seeking something similar again.
I haven't been in a 24/7 situation, but I can easily see myself there.
Now, the little A/B/O fic I've read seems to be a kind of extreme form of some BDSM dynamics, and it does hit several of my kinks, but those happen to be of the "won't happen in real life, but I'm happy to fantasize". Because I know the dynamics as commonly portrayed in A/B/O fic can be less than healthy (I've been in co-dependent relationships before).
I'd definitely be an Omega. Happily, in fact, if it were my fantasy world. The role hits so, SO many of my kink buttons, it's not even funny.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-16 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)I guess I'm a little thrown by the question. Don't most people date based on what turns them on?
