Yeah, this isn't a thing at all in America.

It varies even in-country at how much you kiss. I went to film school, and well, f you get into artist territory the kissing is upped another notch. We had (straight, or mostly straight) male teachers smooching each other, too.

I heard some guys did at my bf's past job, too.

It depends on how good a friend you are, frankly, and then it's still mostly women. We hug a lot, though - i always hug my friends when i see them, and so does my SO.
