I was always under the impression that, if anything, drag is celebrating performance femininity. All the exaggerated aspects are supposed to be over-the-top fun with stereotypes, instead of the deadly serious tightrope act of femininity that women are expected to engage in during everyday life. Though now that I think about it, is it something women are encouraged to participate in, too? Or are they shut out of it? Fine if so, but it'd definitely be kind of jacked up if even toying with stereotypes of femininity is a boys-only club, I mean, do women get to have anything?
