I maintain that Slytherin is not necessarily evil, because ambition is not inherently evil no matter what the books say. Regardless, Slytherins represent!

I think it's even more than ambition. Slytherins look out for the best interests of those they choose; Gryffindors look out for the people they want to be knights in shining armor for. We've seen this lead to good and bad in both Houses, honestly - Percy and Peter did nothing that wasn't perfectly in line with a knight who wanted to follow a certain King. Andromeda Tonks decided to be loyal to the man she loved, and she also didn't think muggleborns or muggles were scum, so that's why she left her family. It's complicated like that.
