comics.

i never really payed attention to american comic books before, but i just read gotham central, and it was so fucking awesome i have to get more. i just bought v for vendetta, sleeper, ex machina, and life in the big city.

i... hope i have good taste?

Well, if you like V for Vendetta, you should check out Watchmen, DEFINITELY.

Welll... if you don't mind some magic with your comics, I'd recommend Hellblazer, Sandman, and Hellboy.

For Batman, there's also Court of Owls/City of Owls/Death in the Family. It has a darker tone, but you might enjoy it.

i love dark, gritty batman, so i'll check those out. thanks!

and i'll take a look at the others too, though i'm a bit wary about magic. i've heard sandman was written by gaiman, so i'll look into that first.
