They are awesome and I'm glad their popularity has exploded. I've only shipped it since the first film but back then, yea, it was more difficult to find fic, and I won't read Steve/Tony in any verse so that cut down the number of fic, too. Steve/Bucky4evar!111

(THE ARE SO SWEET. SO SWEET.)

I started out really loving both Steve/Bucky and Steve/Tony, but then the MCU Steve/Tony fans got on my nerves and I really got into the comics' Steve/Tony fandom, which just has a much more interesting dynamic than MCU Steve/Tony. Now I'm just a somewhat diehard Steve/Bucky shipper.

A Steve/Bucky shipper with a deep love of history and angst/whump/hurt+comfort, and a side-appreciation of violence and mindfuckery.

I am having the time of my life. >:D

The comics had Steve riding in on a horse to rescue naked Tony Stark from a dragon.

I will ship that all the forevers.

But it was so weird to see, even post-Avengers, how in, say, Clint/Coulson fics, it was just decided that Steve and Tony were the background couple. To me, Tony had so much chemistry (platonic or otherwise) with Bruce that man, who would have even looked at Steve/Tony if it hadn't already been a thing. (Also, I kinda liked Steve/Natasha after Avengers. But kinda like how Avengers just cooled me completely on FrostIron, Cap2 sort of snuffed that wick.)

From what I've seen of the comics Steve/Tony have a much more interesting and close friendship than in the MCU. (It might be early days for them in this verse so maybe they'll grow, but...Yea.) I can see why people ship them there (Though I still don't ship it; I'd have to read them first before deciding on that), but I'm all over Tony/Pepper in the MCU and aren't really into the thought of Tony with anyone else. Sorry, Tony. Actually, while I love Tony/Pepper I haven't went looking for a lot of it. I think I'm just not as interested in reading about Tony as I am Thor, or Cap, or Bucky...

Steve/Bucky has a lot of things going for it! I'm not even a history buff but I love the setting of Cap 1 and the flashbacks to their past in fics; love seeing how they adapt to today. There's so much goodness just waiting to be unlocked with this pairing.

I used to really love Tony and identify with him in many ways, but over time the fandom kind of turned me off. Over woobification and trope usage does that. I don't read much Tony fic for pretty much the same reason I don't read much Steve/Tony fic - I will already have read at least a few d

I used to really love Tony and identify with him in many ways, but over time the fandom kind of turned me off. Over woobification and trope usage does that. I don't read much Tony fic for pretty much the same reason I don't read much Steve/Tony fic - I will already have read at least a few dozen fics just like it.

I am just not that interested in Bruce, and I am interested in Thor, but it's hard to find good fic that usn't also Thorki. So Steve and Steve/Bucky fanfic it is!

MCU is the one fandom where I love the canon pairings more than any slash pairings. The only slash pairings I care for now are those who no (longer) "have" anyone in canon, i.e. Clint/Coulson, Steve/Bucky, etc. The couples in the movies have such great dynamics that even limited personal chemistry doesn't matter much in the face of the characters themselves. ;)

It's sad when that happens. And I do really like Tony himself, but I'm not into most the pairings people ship him in and how they portray him (the woobie thing) so I just kind of don't bother. When he's written correctly it's glorious (psst, The Man on the Bridge, Steve/Bucky), but I don't go looking for it.

I love Bruce actually, but again, I don't go looking for fic centered around him. This might be partially to do with the fact that when he's paired it's usually with Tony and/or Pepper, and I'd rather have Gen. I would say I'm lucky to ship both Steve/Bucky and Thor/Loki, expect it doesn't really feel that way because I hate 80% of the fic I've seen in the Thor/Loki fanbase. Sticking with Steve/Bucky is probably best.

Haha, I mostly agree. I even liked Bruce/Betty from the last Hulk film (And Thor/Jane, to a lesser extent, which seems to be pretty unpopular), and I like Tony/Pepper better than most any other pairing in the MCU. The only one I'm not sure about is Steve/Sharon (partially because of the comics and Sharon's relation to Peggy in them; it might not be the same in the MCU), but that hasn't even happened yet so we'll see how that plays out in Cap 3.
