I agree!

I believe that the huge misconceptions about Slytherins (or any House that isn't Gryffindor) are all based on the fact that we only see a glimpse of them, filtered through Harry's vision to boot!
Harry is a lot of things but a good reader of people's inner psyche, he's not. And it's hardly surprising that kids who have been raised in a toxic, classist environment by potentially mass murderous parents tend to follow in their footsteps, especially if their defining trait is ambition and their society highly encourages it.
