iirc pages of his manifesto are hidden around Kirkwall in bookshelves and things like that. It does seem odd that that would be what people focus on, of all things.

I definitely agree that he's a very complex character, and I think the fact that he screws up makes him more interesting. He's not a monster; he has good intentions, which makes his descent all the more heartbreaking. The woobiefication really annoys me though, especially when writers try to remove his accountability for his actions. It's ok to like a character who does horrible things. And I completely agree with what you said about it not being an either/or choice. I wish more people would realize that.
