I think corgis are gross looking.

Oddly I don't mind the doge meme, but I do wonder how that makes me an MRA.

I just wonder if the fedora anon can insert a "tips fedora" joke in any thread regardless of how little said thread has to do with genders. Will we live to see an exchange along the lines of "I like banana milkshakes ---> *tips fedora with a banana*"?

Yes. Furry sausages with short stubby legs.

I don't think they're gross or off-putting, but I do think they're far from the cutest breed.

To be fair, I would probably be neutral to them if they weren't everywhere. What's the cutest, in your opinion?

oh gosh, I don't know. My first inclination is to say "mutts" haha (because those really are the best!). As for pure-breds, I have a lot of "favorite" breeds. And pretty much anything that's one of my favorite breeds is cute to me. German shepherds. Huskies. Great Danes. Weimaraners. Pit bulls. Labs. Greyhounds. Ridgebacks.

I like big dogs, can you tell? xD;

I like big dogs and I cannot lie! No other brothers can deny!

I love big dogs too. Especially furry, floppy dogs like Newfoundlands and Caucasian shepherds (ovcharkas).

Oh my God, I just googled what Caucasian shepherds were. I did not know such giant balls of fluff existed!

I like them well enough because they actually have a muzzle. I detest the dogs (and cats) that don't, like pugs and Persians.

Ironically, I like pugs better than most other small dog breeds. But I do really dislike the squashed-face look of cats like Persians.

I don't think they're gross looking, but I think it's kind of sick to deliberately breed for those proportions.

Ew, I didn't know that. :(

All dog breeds are like that though - deliberately bred to have a certain set of traits, which can include weird proportions (dachshunds, corgis, bassets, etc.) or weird faces (like pugs, which I've heard can have eye problems because they're so bug-eyed, or bulldogs).

Re: Non-fandom secrets

(Anonymous) 2014-05-17 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Eye problems are kind of the least of pugs' worries. It's the spinal and breathing problems which are a big issue.

I've never heard that, but it doesn't surprise me at all. :/

Re: Non-fandom secrets

That's how like 90% of modern purebreds got their distinctive shapes and features. It's kind of a "duh," really. Of course they were selectively bred hundreds of years ago... and for herding, not looking cute.

Yep, for herding cattle, specifically. The shorter body made them more difficult targets for cattle to kick. And made it easier for Corgis to run underneath bellies and such. C:
