Re: Non-fandom secrets

(Anonymous) 2014-05-18 04:39 am (UTC)(link)I relate to this so much. I had a friend who I thought was a pretty good person until she got a dog. She spent over a thousand dollars getting a "designer" breed because she wanted a dog that "made a statement," then neglected the serious medical conditions he developed because she didn't have money for a vet. Also, he had to be "uncut" because he was "a show quality investment" even though he couldn't be shown because his joints were too fucked up. Any suggestion that she do something other than she was doing at the time (re: the dog or any other thing) would get you a long, curse-filled rant about how selfish you were and how little you understood what she was going through.
When she used to talk about how badly she wanted kids and what an awesome parent she would be, and how smart and well-dressed her kids would be, my stomach would just drop.
