I don't see myself finishing it anytime soon (maybe by the years end if I'm lucky) mostly because I keep it on the back burner in favor of shorter stories.

I hear you on that one. I've currently got a pact going with a friend where he's keeping me from starting any new short stories until I finish at least one of my current shorts and get another ten thousand words on my epic. It is killing me.
