(Anonymous) 2014-05-18 03:57 am (UTC)(link)The books I enjoy, I really, really enjoy, and the tendency to analyze structure and theme and dig into the culture surrounding the book enhances that enjoyment, because it gives me multiple levels to play around in and write obnoxious fannish essays about.
However, it has kind of killed my ability to enjoy trashy popcorn books the way I used to, because I can see the seams a lot more readily, and usually wind up cranky at them.
