Film/Tv major* here, and it depends.

Analyzing stuff don't ruin it for me, but after analyzing The Hurt Locker for an exam I am not watching that film for at least another year... That is more about the fact that I saw the film on repeat for a week, not so much that it is ruined for me.

The negatives that comes with my field is that I know what is good and bad filmmaking, I know how they easily could have done something better and so on, so I probably get more annoyed by stuff that I feel could have been better. But really it isn't any worse than when I watch films and get annoyed because the women are stereotypes or 98% of the cast are white.

So it is probably just a myth, studying a field I love made me more observant about that field, and I am more observant and it is harder to just watch a film or a television show without getting a bit technical.

*Which feels odd to say, I am getting a Bachelor in Film and Television studies...
