But if it's a canon ship, you get the danger that the writers will fuck up the onscreen/written cuddles/smoochies/buttsex and turn the ship into something irritating and totally shitty that you no longer want to ship. And it's a good bet they will -- Hollywood *sucks* at dramatic romance.

With fanfic, you get a million different possibilities, none of which have restrictive canonical authority.

True, the buildup most always outdoes the climax. But so many of the fanfic versions will suck as well - plus you usually get at least [i]some[/i] good scenes before canon wrecks it. Oh, and the bitter tears of your rival shippers once you win the canon for your pairing. Gotta remember that bit.

Whereas with Homestuck, if it's a canon ship, you get the danger that Hussie will fuck it up somehow just to screw with you.
