What was the last thing you made with your hands? It doesn't matter if it was a batch of cookies, or a drawing or a house of cards. If you created something from scratch with your hands, it counts.

And do you consider yourself a creative person?

Brownies.

People tell me I'm creative when I show them my knitting and crocheting but I tend to argue with them because I mostly just follow patterns. I wouldn't argue with someone else who considers their crafting creative though. idk

I do think I'm pretty creative when it comes to writing though. I'm still working up the nerve to share my writing with people but I love talking about it and I've had a lot of people tell me how much they love my ideas.

A dry stone wall.
Well, more repair than create, but that's just a small detail.

A drawing of someone's OC from Gaia. And no; I've always bemoaned my lack of creativity, actually.

Milk Chocolate Brownie Explosion

They are so fudgy, they practically are fudge. Also, I made a grocery spreadsheet, don't know if that counts.

I do consider myself a creative person.

Milk Chocolate Brownie Explosion

10 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or vanilla nut extract)
2 large eggs
7 Tbsp. cocoa powder
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon kosher salt
3 ounces milk chocolate, chopped

Preheat oven to 325° and line a 8x8 baking dish with parchment. Whisk together in a medium bowl the flour, cocoa powder and salt. Set aside.

Place butter and 2 ounces chocolate in a microwave safe, large bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals on high power, stirring after each interval, until chocolate is smooth. Add sugar to the melted chocolate mixture, whisking to combine. Add the vanilla and egg, whisking until completely incorporated and smooth. Stir the cocoa mixture into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Fold in the remaining chocolate. Pour batter into prepared pan, smoothing out the batter to the edges with a spatula.

Bake 25-30 minutes or until the top is set. (For extra fudginess, pull them out of the oven after 15 minutes, let cool for 15 minutes and then put them back in the oven for 10-15 minutes.) Do not overbake. Let cool on a wire rack and then put in the refrigerator until cold.

The original recipe called for a milk chocolate ganache to spread over the brownies, but they’re very sweet already so I skipped it.
(Milk Chocolate Ganache:
Melt 4.5 ounces milk chocolate and 2 Tablespoons heavy cream in a small microwave-safe bowl in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until mixture is smooth. Let brownies cool 10 minutes before pouring ganache on them, smooth and let cool completely before cutting.)

I made banana bread earlier today.

A knitted dog treat pouch that clips onto my belt loop. Seems to be working pretty well so far.

And yes I do. Not for that, in particular, since it was just a modification of an existing pattern, but for other things.

A game case for my DS and 3DS games.

In general, no, but I have my moments, I guess.

I needle felted a tulip for mothers day! I wasn't too proud, but it was cute and she liked it.

I don't consider myself creative at all.

A doodle of my BFF's and my GW2 characters. With a tablet in my hand!

I should hope I'm at least a little creative, I'm going to art/design school.

Brownies, from a mix. Unfortunately they triggered my mother's lactose intolerance (which is odd, because they never have before), so I'm going to be using one of my other mixes to make my next batch of brownies/cake.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-18 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops, missed the other question! Yes, but not with that; maybe if I didn't use mixes I'd consider it creative. I write and do origami, and I believe there's legitimate creativity in origami. Mostly in the paper, for me, but it does exist.

Potato burritos.
And I am a very creative person. Of the "Gah! why so many ideas I'll never do?" type.

Well, a story if writing counts as "with your hands". Next to that, last thing I did with my hands was fixing my clothing, because I like my stuff and wouldn't throw it away over a minor hole, but that's not from scratch.

Last thing I'm really proud of was making soap with my friend, but that was a few months back.

A mirror surrounded by slices of polished stones - agates, rock crystal and the like. I've hung it where it gets the morning sun, and it looks all sparkly, which is a boost because, y'know, mornings. I suppose I am creative - I get an idea and it bugs me until I carry it out.

Oooh, could you share a picture?

That sounds gorgeous!

[personal profile] hyarrowen 2014-05-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
'Course! though I don't know how to do the embedding thing, and I was a bit late for the morning sun...

My first batch of cupcakes, for my sister's birthday! And they turned out alright, too, although too sweet. Either the recipe called for way too much sugar or it was because I used a liquid rather than a dry measuring cup.

If anyone's interested, I used the recipe at indigoscones, though I had to modify it a good bit and didn't end up making the frosting.

http://indigoscones.blogspot.sg/2011/12/simply-pink-vanilla-bean-cupcakes.html?m=1

(And no, they did not turn out looking all fluffy and white like that - they came out a tad yellower.)

Some pizzas! And lemon poppyseed cookies.

I need to make a 1st birthday card for my niece but I am putting it off. :\ I can't believe she's 1 on Wednesday, aaah!!
