Re: Pairings you think are sexy
And for the sexual abuse scenario, I headcanon that is was a senator/representative that helped his father campaign (or was somehow close to the family for long periods of time). And while I don't consider it to be the vice president, in my headcanon the vice-president finds out about it before anyone else does. BUT all he gets is a rumor about how someone found some pictures/video of TJ with the senator.
So he thinks that TJ slept with another married man and he confronts TJ (with at least his mother/brother around) about it. TJ is obviously devastated and ashamed (both from the accusations and the realization that people are now going to find out about what happened). He leaves in a panic and heads straight for Steve's house. I have a few diff scenarios I cycle through. Sometimes Steve is home, sometimes he isn't. Sometimes TJ goes and buys some drugs (with the intention of killing himself) that he does not end up taking (TJ is stronger than he thinks).
But once he opens up to Steve about what happened (and of course there are some self-esteem issues regarding that), Steve gets righteously mad about how the vice-president treated TJ and how his family (did not stick up for him more). And then there is the whole thing about how they meet. But that is even longer. So long.
And don't worry about answering this right now! I can totally wait until tomorrow to talk about it (give me something to do on my break at work).
Re: Pairings you think are sexy
Now that's harsh, and would require even more h/c later on, which, yes.
Since my brain is so devious when it comes to SebStan and his terribly puppy-ish sexy characters (really, SebStan in a nutshell IMO), I also can sorta imagine how someone in the White House or in their staff got hands on something he did and blackmailed him into sex. And now, inserting this into your headcanon, this happens (in my head) when TJ was finally starting to get things right with Steve and his new life, and this thing from the past resurfaces to fuck him up once again.
But thankfully now TJ has Steve to stick with him when/if everything goes to hell.
Poor TJ, but I really do want things to get better for him in the end, I swear. He was my favorite, I identify with him in a LOT of aspects of his life (down to the angsty piano playing and the non-affective father figure among other things) and that makes me want for things to get right for him too. <3
Re: Pairings you think are sexy
And OMG, I didn't even think of blackmailing. Yesssssssss. TJ would not want to be a bother for his family/Steve and would totally try to handle the blackmailer himself. I have a new scenario to daydream about now.
And in my headcanons everything always works out. Because I can't do downer endings to stuff. :[
Re: Pairings you think are sexy
AH. Blackmail scenario is my favorite, hihihi. Of course here's blackmail, it's the White House >>> there are politicians! Politicians >>> corruption-prone, insidious evil. And TJ is the poor pretty boy who just came out, and he's very pretty and doing drugs and therefore PERFECT blackmail material. So I give it a few years in my brain, so that he's not underage ('cause my brain can't do underage) and then BAM. I'm evil.
Me neither... sometimes I just enjoy some dark fic, but they have usually not enough build up to get too involved so that I don't have to grieve for a hour after I've read it, LOL. If it's dark!fic it must be short and not too emotional. In fact I read one with Rumlow/Bucky that was, well, horrible. It was pretty well written, but well, it was completely hopeless. (I was in a mood so I liked it, but also because it was set in a time before this movie, and we KNOW later TWS escapes, so the hurt was minimized by knowing this.)
Re: Pairings you think are sexy
I don't think I have read a fic in any of my fandoms that have blackmail as a plot point. This is terrible. :C I am actually surprised that asshole vice president didn't try to use TJ's affair or suicide attempt to gain something.
Also, Political Animals talk. Did you think TJ OD'ing was a suicide attempt or not? I totally think it was but he lied about it so that he would not hurt his family. I can't imagine that someone with his history of drug use doesn't know his limits. And he went WAY over his limits (I think he took most of those drugs he bought himself?). Maybe it was a subconscious or spur of the moment decision though.
Re: Pairings you think are sexy
Blackmail is kind of a thing I have... and with TJ and politic settings, well, it writes itself, LOL. What with people constantly spying on him apparently, because that's the only reason why they could catch him with the congressman I think.
Tbh I thought he was trying to kill himself, and the fact that they made the parallel with the early try made it more apparent... I think he had reached the end of the rope and just did what he felt he needed to do. And his little face when Elaine tells him he's in the hospital... you can see all of it crashing on him and he just looks heartbreaking in there. Seriously, I shed a tear at that. I think she didn't want to hurt his mom by lying like that. Because gosh, you can totally see HOW MUCH he loves her from the way he goes, 'mum' at her upon waking. HIS LITTLE FACE, THE END.
PS: but seriously, it's still surprising to me how so few people seem to enjoy PA? It had a soap-opera-ish look to it sometimes that also threw ME off at first, but once you start on it I think it's evident how great the writing and the acting are!

Re: Pairings you think are sexy
And also, there's the enormous big dilemma of the modern woman: career and/or family, which FOR ONCE is handled fantastically. No extremes, no anvils, no bullshit, and that's radical writing to me. And we do get flawed AND fantastically ingenuous and strong (the real kind) women of EVERY flavor.
I even like all the surrounding men tbh, including the asshole dad, because he's cool.
AND, Sebastian Stan is making out with boys, they are sniffing coke from his chest, he cries almost every episode and he's fucking miserable all the way through. And I just love him with EVERY CHARACTER, damn him. I'm shipping him with the piano too, I'm so desperate.
