Dean has much guilt, of course, but doesn't care because Sam is alive and healing. They have Crowley locked in a dungeon (a hidden, demon-proof room in the bunker), and they finally find Castiel. Zeke is afraid Castiel will know what's what and tells Dean he can't stay there, so Castiel is out on his own being human, working at a Gas'n'Sip.
Metatron is trying to muster the fallen angels to his 'side', saying that if they treat him like God, then he'll let them back in to his tailor-re-made heaven.
We find out Zeke is actually Gadreel, the angel who supposedly let the snake into the garden of Eve (he says he didn't), and who fell along with the the other angels, after having been in angel prison for millennium. He falls for Metatron's line and kills Kevin and others, and takes off, and when Castiel is captured by some other angels who want revenge (they think he did the shutting-heaven-spell), Castiel manages to steal another angel's grace and become an angel again.
He, Dean and Crowley finally track down Sam/Gadreel and manage to get into Sam's head and get him to say 'no', thus kicking Gadreel out.
Sam is understandably pissed that Dean did that, Dean is pissed that Sam wanted to die, Sam says that he wouldn't do that in the same situation (basically, 'no, i wouldn't save your life), and Dean takes that badly, heh.
Metatron, God's scribe, is writing the 'story' of him winning over the angels and whatnot, and is pissed not everything goes his way. Castiel ends up running an angelic army who only want to get heaven back open, and he's actually winning against Metatron. Abbaddon is still around and being bad-ass and taking over Hell since Crowley's been gone so long, so that's going on, too, and Dean and Sam track down and find Cain, of Cain and Abel to find the first blade, the only blade that can kill a Knight of Hell. Cain was the first knight (he took on the Mark of Cain and the blade and killed his brother so he'd go to heaven, and became the first Knight). He also killed all the Knights but Abbaddon. He passes on the Mark to Dean.
It changes him.
Oh! Charlie comes back and we meet Dorothy, as in Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz, she's been locked in a spell with a witch in the bunker for decades. The end of *that* episode has Charlie and Dorothy (cutting a rather Indiana Jones figure) going off into Oz to save it from the bad witch.
Um....arrgh. I'm marathoning all the episodes with a friend later this summer and haven't watched them except the once when they aired, so i'm forgetting....
Angel wars, Dean getting more and more like Soulless Sam due to the mark and um....second to last ep he killed Abbaddon and was just - really out of it and Sam had to talk him down and then...this last ep, Gadreel is getting sick of Metatron's crap and how he's killing off angels and lying and whatnot and so goes to talk to the boys at the bunker to try and help and the final scene is Dean totally out of control attacking him and Castiel and Sam holding him back....
So that's nine except for the finale. :) I'm sure i've forgotten some stuff.

Am binge-watching most of SPN in three weeks, for the second time, so high-five!

Thank you!
I have only seen each ep once and will marathon the whole season this summer, so my already-wonky memory didn't hold all the facts. But yes! Two important things!
