I played the first on easy too and it's very forgiving. Infinite I played on normal and mostly got through okay (there were rough spots, though), but that final battle was much harder than anything in the rest of the series; almost didn't get through it myself. I don't think the actual combat is quite as polished (And it's a bit different by then. A bit) but it still works very well and is pretty fun once you start picking up various weapons and powers. There's an arrow at the top of the screen that points to your current objective, though nothing as huge as the arrow in Infinite. It's still helpful though (again, from what I can remember). There's always maps too. I don't remember getting lost much, and I spent a lot of time backtracking because I remembered where health kits or ammo were and went for those rather than buying any, heh.
