Cupcake recipes?

I made my first ever batch of cupcakes for my sister's birthday (see my comment in the "What did you make with your hands?" thread).

I used this recipe:

I was pretty happy with how they turned out, even though I only had one cupcake/muffin tray and so only made twelve. I used plain flour (sans cornstarch) rather than cake flour and they turned out well, if a little dense.

Anyone have any tried and tested cupcake recipes they'd like to share? Or any disaster stories? ;)

Not technically cupcakes (they might be closer to muffins, maybe), but French Breakfast Puffs are always a big hit. Easy, not too sweet, and different enough from most cake flavors that it's not an instant "no thanks" for anybody unless they have allergies.

I always use butter instead of shortening, because that's how the recipe I remember (not this exact one) used to be. Just...don't mention how much butter is in them. It's for the best.
