It's also interesting that you said that bit about excuses and explanations, since that's always been a really important distinction to me but other people seem to not care about it.

YANA. I've even resorted to adding, 'This is an explanation, not an excuse.' when talking about (other people's) behaviour, because some people. Just. Don't. Get. It.
