I kind of get what this secret is saying, but...

I'm not sure what you're going to follow up with here. But... what? There is no 'but' when it comes to killing babies.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-19 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Buuuut how else do you make baby stew? With live ones?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, of course. Fresh is best.
bur: Gor! It's Anakin with a baby impaled on his lightsaber!! The horror, the horror. (GOR!)

Fresh is best, but there's something to be said for a good, 30-day aged baby steak.

I'm a little surprised this comment hasn't gotten a "calm down, it's just fiction" reply. Is baby killing where f!s draws the line?

Eh, when it's trying to be played off as a not-so-bad thing, yes.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-19 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
What is this from?

I don't have a comment on the secret, but I fucking love this book so much. It's so good.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-19 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
All I have to say is that this secret shocked me because I've been looking everywhere for my copy of that book all week. It's been too long since I last read it.

Actually, now that I remember something more about the context, I think one of the points the book was trying to make was that you should feel that way, it's just not up to you to do the burning.

Other people read this book? I loved this book.

Oh, the secret. Killing babies is wrong, yeah. Geez it's been a while, I remember there was some bad stuff with Resthaven but I don't directly recall the babykilling.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yees, this book. I loved this book, my sister really liked it too when I found it for her at a used book store. :3

Yeah if I remember this correctly I think they saved one of the babies who was going to be killed? Because it was a set of twins, and one was a girl, and they were going to kill her (believing twins were evil I think?) and the kids saved her and found her a new home? So the narrative wasn't agreeing with that sentiment. But maybe I'm remembering wrong. Maybe they weren't able to save her? IDK. All I know is that the narrative was really against the baby killing.

I love how no one is taking the trollbait slur against the armed forces and people who serve in them (I guess they're all brainwashed to have no will and are incapable of making their own choices and are therefore exactly like forced sacrifices, even in countries with no draft? IDK.)

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
What slur?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Eh, I think it's more that the op is implying that countries with armed forces (regardless of if they have compulsory service) are sacrificing their citizens/youth when they enlist - and this should be burned.

Or something like that. Personally I shrugged at it since I've heard that argument often enough before because I come from a military family.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. I just kinda shrugged that off too. I was a bit confused since I didn't see anything that could be considered a slur in the secret.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT

Yeah, I can see how it might have been meant that way. Tbh, it's possible the only reason I took it the way I did is because I have heard people argue that multiple times before.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing anon is referring to the "sacrificing their young in wars" comment.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ayrt

While I did shrug that off, my mind took that literally. As in performing ritual sacrifices to gods kind of stuff. Anyway, I don't consider that a slur.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-20 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
This is one of my favorite books!
But I'm not quite sure what this secret is getting at. I don't think you're supposed to be OK with the baby-killing.
