Underfed = Not likely, as the Pharisees accused him of "eating with sinners" and it's pretty clear throughout the NT that Jesus and the disciples (and the later apostles of the Church) ate meals together as part of their fellowship.

Unwashed = I am the anon who made the comment above about Roman plumbing and Levitical laws insisting that observant Jews bathe themselves quite regularly. So, no.

Unshaven = Jury is still out on this. Whether they trimmed all but the corners of their beards, or they went clean-shaven as most Hellenistic men of the day did, it's hard to say which tradition Jesus and the disciples follow. Could go either way.

Rotting teeth = since refined sugar and processed carbohydrates weren't around back then, and people ate very little protein in comparison to an average meal today, it's more likely that first-century Holy Land dwellers had better teeth than we do!

Nobody my age gets smallpox or polio vaccinations anymore o_O They keep the smallpox vaccine on lockdown in level 4 labs.

Huh. Tonight I learned. For some reason, I thought it was included with the usual round of shots/boosters/etc. they pincushion you with when you're a kid. Guess not. Though AFAIR they still vaccinate for polio in some parts of the developing world....

Uh, how old are you? I thought I never got the polio vax, but I did and this was in the early 90s.

As for small pox, nope, not on my record.
