I still need to catch up with the Halo books.

Couldn't really stand most other licenced fiction, but they were suprisingly decent on average (ignore the videogame adaptation and the other book by the same guy).

Like Mass Effect 3, Halo 4 sorta killed my interest in the series though. Will see if I can rekindle a little of that love.

I'd heard that about the Halo books, actually. I'm not all that into the universe because I've been PS from the start but I have friends on Xbone who recommended them highly.

I'm still surprised by how much the ending of ME3 has soured me on the rest of the series, especially since - as other people are quick to point out - the rest of it remains good. The whole thing is just... tarnished, somehow. I keep meaning to play the trilogy again but never get around to it because I know how it ends now. That no matter what I do, it will be shitty, and virtually identical to everything else.

They actually paid out for some legit sci-fi authors like Greg Bear to do a few of them, which probably helped.

And yeah, Mass Effect is an interesting one. I'm not usually bothered by bad entries to a good series outside the obvious dissapointment, but the fact that the series had been sold so heavily on the idea of a triology with the personal journey of your hero effecting everything was really hurt by the finale.

It just made everything you'd done before ring less true.
