I have a Mary Sue who wins the affection of my current favorite character, who is canonically someone who you really wouldn't want to be around, by being a woobie in distress half the time and a major badass the other half, and he mellows out some for her, but then he has a resurgence of crazy, and it gets him killed, but then it turns out he isn't really dead, and she only finds this out when she goes on a suicide mission because she thinks he's dead and barely survives because she's that badass, and then she has his baby and everyone else is really confused because it's obvious the kid is his but they don't know he's alive, let alone that they're together. It's convoluted as shit and I love it.

The first part of this sentence/paragraph sounds very similar to one of my current favorite storylines.
