I can't put 'being a kind and generous person' on my resume but that doesn't mean it's not a worthy thing to be. Being a BNF means, at least, that you are a prolific, popular, and reasonably talented author of fanfic - fanfic that probably makes a lot of other people very happy. Now, you could be an awful person on top of that, but if you aren't, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be proud of reaching a certain level of popularity in fandom if you aren't neglecting other parts of your life at the same time.
