idk, I think bb!Bobby singing Run–D.M.C was pretty funny

People won't give him a chance? Have you noticed how well-received his solo was??

Genuine question, what do you like about Cyclops so much? I just can't see hiim as much else than bland, even when he gets decent storylines.

the thing is, his "blandness" is actually what makes adult cyclops compelling. a so-tragic-it's-overdone backstory, his only father figure grooming him to be the leader of a superhero team, and his lack of control over his power are why he is the way he is. he's uptight and doesn't fly off the handle because that was how he was brought up, and when he did lose control, there was usually a lot of property damage and danger to people. so his defense mechanism is to be stoic and dutiful, and when you put that next to "flirtatious cajun with questionable loyalty and a sense of danger," "occasionally murderous, lustful canadian wild man," and "witty, gentlemanly, blue german elf," then he seems bland by comparison. if he were a dc hero in a solo title, nobody would be calling him bland because he wouldn't have a wildly diverse team to be the anchor for.

What story arc is this/who is it written by? I haven't picked up X-Men in years, but I like the sound of this storyline.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-21 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The storyline mentioned is by Bendis in All-New X-Men, which crosses over a lot with his Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 3). Time-displaced teen Cyke has now left those books and has his own title, Cyclops, where he's in space with his space pirate dad he's just found. That solo only has one great issue out and is written by Greg Rucka, who's great. (Not OP, btw)

oooh, now I'm intrigued by this

I prefer Jean the most. But I really like young Slim and his adventures with Dad, too.

Yeah, I love this whole storyline AND I love the Cyclops space pirate story.

I especially love it for Jean, though.

I want the old x-men to go to the moon or something (with some exceptions, like Storm) and for Marvel to focus on the new x-men and stop fucking up their characters

alas....
