Are there any fandom meetups in your area? Or conventions you could go to? You'd definitely find people you could get excited with in places like those :)

I've been to one convention, and that was by accident. Most conventions I don't even hear about until they've passed, but I suppose I could stalk the state con website a little better.

I don't know about meetups... that kind of thing is small in this sort of community. I know it's stupid, but it feels like the older I get, the less I feel it's appropriate for me to be going to those kinds of things, even though fandom life doesn't end at 30, and there are butt tons of older fans of books/movies/games/cartoons/etc. But the more time passes by, I feel like the creepy old guy in the club (not a guy, I just feel like one).
