Okay, I never saw the UK version (which I understand is superior), but I loved the ending to the US version of Life on Mars. I thought it was totally cheeky and off-the-wall, and yes, maybe a wee bit try-hard, but it still reminded me of the famous St. Elsewhere ending (which is maybe why I liked it so much).
