If I have a son, he's probably going to be named for his father, because it's a name that's been in his family for generations and he cares about keeping it going, whereas I have no family names that are important to me.

It's really not selfish if the people involved talk about it and come to a mutual decision. Also, your notions of incest are...really, really weird. By your logic, naming my son after my husband will have incestuous implications, which is completely ridiculous.
