Fandom disappointment

(Anonymous) 2014-05-22 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Today I saw a bumpersticker that I thought said " I Stand Up To God." My first thought was "WHAT, YAY, ANOTHER STARGATE: SG1 FAN!?!1! yess, let's stand up to them togeth. . . . "

and then I realized that it said "I stand up FOR God" and was just a regular Christian bumpersticker in my regular Bible Belt town.

my disappointment was vast like the universe..

Anyone have any fandom disappointments lately? Things you thought a friend would get into but they didn't? Missed connections that weren't really connections at all?

I met people irl who'd seen Babylon 5 but the consensus was they didn't really like it. :( I love it.

:(

I LOVE IT SO MUCH; that doesn't help you, but. . . Babylon 5 is so good, though. SO GOOD

I LOVE IT TOO MUCH, MAYBE? That could be the problem. Like, not everyone wants hear me count the ways I love Londo.

OMG LET'S COUNT THE WAYS TOGETHER

His story arc is one of the best, toughest, most hard-hearted and empathetic works of fiction I can think of IN ANY MEDIA. Not even an exaggeration. I could write a book about how awesome Londo's story arc is if writing it wouldn't make me ineligible for flood insurance (BECAUSE OF ALL THE TEARS). And then I would write a sequel called, "The Same Thing, Only With G'Kar."

My CV is getting weirder by the day. But you know what? It really is that good.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! I'm at the end of season 4 and I went from I went from loving him, to feeling sorry for him, to despairing his choices, to anger with a tinge of pity, to FUCKING SHIT DUDE NO YOU KNOW HE'S EVIL, to ;___; yesss finally you are making good choices I love you more than ever, to, finally, aw what dude he don't love you stop looking so sad you poor baby.

But, seriously though, I could write a fucking novel on Londo.

Count the ways you love him? Let me guess... are there six?

I'm in the middle of writing Londo/Vir smut and figuring out what to do with six dicks is so hard.

Whaaaaaaat.

I can't remember much about it but my dad positively adores Babylon 5, like it's one of his favourite shows, same with my brother as well. Actually a lot of people I know who've seen it really liked it.

It sucks that you can't squee irl to anyone about it :(

Whaaaaa.

Are they by any chance SFX snobs? I have had to smack my partner over the head because they wanted to stop watching in the first season because they thought the SFX were cheesy. (Hello, twenty year old show here...)

If it's cuz the story, I don't even know.

Was unpacking stuff and new roommate saw my TARDIS towel. She didn't know what it was. Also, no one commented on my Browncoats t-shirt.

Oh that reminds me: I tend to put on my Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital t-shirt the days I have to use my crutch* and with the exception of my partner no one ever gets the reference...

*Also because it amuses me, and if I'm gonna walk with a limp at least I can pretend to be Dr. House right?

And I'm sorry, it sucks. But probably some people noticed it without commenting!

This is very likely to be the case! Just the other day, I saw someone wearing a Legend of Zelda tshirt (with her bangs cut like Link!) and I was torn between wanting to say something SO BADLY and not wanting to seem like a weirdo.

I would love seeing someone wearing that! That's a shame no one gets it.

It amuses me...

I get that random people can't stop me and ask, but I am a film and television student, my classmates should get it, and also mention it. Still hasn't happened, except by my partner and one person did ask me if it was a real hospital.

So do I, it was such a highlight of my week! The Internet has everything:http://www.tshirtoutlet.com/9260.html that is the same design I have, but I don't think it is the page it was ordered from. But as it was a gift from someone, I can't be sure.

When I was twelve, a band called Savage Garden released a song called The Animal Song.

I first heard it when I was half-asleep and assumed it was The Animorphs Song and went OMG A BAND I LIKE LIKES ANIMORPHS TOO :D

Needless to say, that was not the case.
