Do you ever see or hear something and immediately, strongly think of something in fandom?

Today I listened to Forgiven by Within Temptation for the first time in awhile and just thought "this is THE Steve/Bucky song".

I mean, just look at the lyrics:

Couldn't save you from the start

Your silence makes me hold my breath

Basically half the things in my life remind me of the Babysitters Club (yes, there's a fandom. Tiny, but there). Especially anything to do with NYC.

Um, aside from that, other than plant- and weather-related songs etc reminding me of Emelan, nothing much else strikes a chord.

"Omigod You Guys" from Legally Blonde makes me think of BSC so much. Especially with the bossy girl.

The Heart Won't Lie with Reba and Vince Gill makes me think of Ron/Hermione from Harry Potter.

Also, I Have a Theory from the Buffy musical (Once More With Feeling) makes me think of the HP fandom during the three year summer (and really any fandom where mad speculation is going on).

The song "Pompeii" by Bastille hit the radio at just the right time to marry my newfound Rome obsessions to my feelings about my childhood home and the pre-apocalyptic city I went to school in.

"Demons" by Imagine Dragons is the only thing on earth that can make me like Twilight for a few minutes.

Demons is such a good song and I would love to apply it to Twilight if Twilight were done well.

Yes. I did that yesterday.

I have a few songs I've heard recently that made me go "oh shit, that's fandom"

A few examples (including a few from WT, you have good taste):

Within Temptation: Fire and Ice - Liara's feelings for Shepard in Mass Effect 1 and 2
Imagine Dragons: Radioactive (yes, yes, I know, so overused etc) - Wheatley in Portal 2 and Blue Sky
Kim Richey: Reel me In - Ward and Skye in the last few episodes of AoS S1 (which! I am watching the finale of tonight!) yaaay
Within Temptation: What Have You Done - Tavros and Vriska as well as Rufioh/Summoner and Aranea/Mindfang from Homestuck

I know I have more but I'm kind of blanking on them at the moment...

Everything nuclear reminds me of Godzilla.

The first thing I thought during the Fukushima reactor incident was "they could make a Godzilla movie off that disaster."

I wont lie pretty much every song is making me think of of Steve/Bucky atm, but three notable songs that remind me of them are Fall Out Boy: Miss Missing you, The Fray: Kiss Me, and Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah . (I blame a gifset for the last one tbh, but my heart is now broken and nothing is fixing it ~~except listening to these songs on repeat~~.)

I've also got two songs that remind me of Thor/Loki, Meatloaf: Blind as a Bat and Breaking Benjamin: Anthem of the Angels(mostly because of the chorus with this one).

is SO Steve/Bucky. I was just listening to that song the other day and thinking the same thing. Urg. I hope someone does a fanvid.

I've been listening to it and imagining how it would be as a fanvid. (Make it happen, fandom.)

It's just so right for them.

I've seen a fair few wonderful gifsets with the lyrics of Miss Missing you on them but no fanvids as of yet, granted I don't check for fanvids as often.

I have a problem. I check once a week now, sometimes more. I used to not be this obsessed with checking for fanvids (despite loving them)...but everything Steve/Bucky is something I'm interested in right now.

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark and I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me have always reminded me of Homestuck characters: Vriska and Eridan, respectively. And the part of Landsailor (by Vienna Teng) that's sung by the guy makes me think of Lil Hal.

If I listen to a song while reading a book or fic, playing a game, or even thinking very hard on a fandom, sometimes that will stick in my head and listening to the song will remind me of it.

Like the Gladiator soundtrack and Baldur's Gate, some Metallica songs remind me of Dragonball Z, and at least one of a Harry Potter fic. "Come What May" as sung by Ewan MacGreggor and Nicole Kidman for Moulin Rouge makes me think of Aragorn/Boromir because of a music vid of exactly that, Lady Gaga's song "You and I" makes me think of SPN because some wrote a fic with that as it's title (even though I never read the fic).

The Linkin Park song "Burn It Down" has a verse:

You told me, "Yes"

And I believed when you told that lie

And struck me down, when I kissed that ring
You lost that right, to hold that crown

So when you fall, I'll take my turn
And fan the flames

...and despite never watching the show or even touching the books, it makes me think of "Game of Thrones" every damn time!

I feel "In My Remains" has a more legitimate association with the final battle scenes in The Heart of the Journey (Raven's Blade 5) than that. "In My Remains" has a definite military beat and the line "Like an army, falling, one by one by one" feels appropriate for a war scene, especially when the fic had Boromir progressively cutting down the Nazgul as he encountered them.
