I felt like I was missing something in the last chapter of TJ and Amal :(

Like, I liked the absence of dialogue in theory, but in practice I had a little bit of a hard time following what happened. It was just a little disappointing after how much I was looking forward to it.

Ah, I get that. I had some trouble following the first part of the coffee shop conversation, personally (not quite sure what prompted the first barista to shrug -- did he go to too many different tattoo parlors to bother wanting to recount? -- or what brought in the second one, though it would have been a little too neat for the first person Amal interacts with to know exactly where he wanted to go).

But afterwards, I think it was a good way of having a sweet yet non-cloying ending, especially since the comics has had its chapter heading "soundtrack", so I usually imagine music over/under everything (though I could also just be a sucker for Amal's facial expressions).

Yeah, it was mainly the coffee shop conversation I had to look at twice and I wish I knew, like you said, if he had been to a lot of places or if that was the first place he stopped (I guess the former makes more sense but I didn't pick up on that). I thought the last page was the perfect place to end the story in terms of an open wrap-up, but the panels on Amal - did he actually see him through the window, or not? Basically the whole thing made me realize how much I rely on words to understand.
